Few people know that near Osaka there is a world-famous railway line thanks to… a cat 🐱✨
🚉 The Wakayama Kishigawa Line was once nearly closed, but was "saved" by the calico cat Tama - appointed as stationmaster of Kishi Station in 2007.
Thanks to the appeal of the "cat stationmaster," tourists from all over flocked here to visit, making the line one of Japan's most unique tourist spots 🌍🐾
Although Tama passed away in 2015, her adorable legacy remains with:
🐱 Kishi Station - the world's only cat-themed station
⛩️ A cat shrine
☕ A cat cafe
🛍️ Lots of cat merchandise
In particular, you can experience 3 super cute cat-themed trains, each with a different cat design 🚋🐈
🚆 How to get there from Osaka:
• Kuroshio Express train → Wakayama (1h05)32 minutes)
• Then take Kishigawa Line → Kishi Station (
💡 If taking 3 or more trains, buy a one-day pass and remember to collect commemorative stamps at the stations 📮
📍 A small but extremely fun experience for cat lovers and those who like to explore Japan in a different way 🐾🇯🇵
